Ho Technical Institute Holds First Graduation Ceremony.
A total number of 24 students graduated from the Ho Technical Institute, a newly converted TVET school on Saturday 9th September 2023 in Ho. The students were taken through various courses such as Electrical Engineering Technology, Catering, and Hospitality Management, Fashion Design Technology, Wood Construction as well as Building and Construction for three years.
Speaking on the theme: “The Role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in National Development,” The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ho, Hon. Divine R.K. Bosson, emphasized the critical significance of TVET in shaping the future of the nation.
Hon. Bosson highlighted the pressing challenges facing the nation’s economy, particularly the depreciation of the Cedi against foreign currencies. He stressed that production is the key to economic stability and that Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) plays a pivotal role in driving production.
The MCE hinted that a school project located on the Kpenoe – Akoefe road will soon become the permanent campus for Ho Technical Institute. This upgraded facility will include dormitory accommodations, enhancing the learning environment for students.
He expressed gratitude to the school’s Electrical and Fashion Departments for their symbolic donations of a practical extension board and a captivating Caphtan garment. These acts of creativity and generosity exemplify TVET’s spirit of innovation and craftsmanship he said.
The Headmaster of the School Mr. Justice Arthur noted that the school originally started in the year 1984 as the Social Welfare Vocational Training Centre to cater for the vocational and technical needs of people from all walks of life, to ensure that everyone has a decent livelihood. According to him, the provision of skills training has a direct bearing on the reduction of juvenile delinquency and also promotes holistic national and human development.
Also present to grace the ceremony includes, Togbe Dede III, Afetorfia of Ho Dome, Mr. Christian Hockey, CEO of Doelyne Enterprise, and the Deputy Volta Regional Director of TVET Services, Madam Perfect Aku Fiakodzo.
